Laser Therapy for Tendonitis

Tendonitis is a condition in which the fibrous cords that attach muscle to bone in the human body (tendons) become inflamed. Tendonitis can affect any tendon in the body but is most common in shoulders, elbows, wrists, and heels. It can happen due to many different reasons but is often attributed to repetitive motions which result in inflammation near the joints. Acute tendonitis in certain areas of the body is known by names such as Climber’s Elbow, Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow, Swimmer’s Shoulder, and Plantar Fasciitis.

Laser Therapy for Tendonitis

Symptoms of tendonitis can look like:

  • pain in a tendon that gets worse when you move
  • difficulty moving the joint
  • feeling a grating or popping sensation when you move the tendon
  • swelling, sometimes with heat or redness

These can be very uncomfortable symptoms to live with and can begin to affect daily life. Here at Evolution of Balance, I have been treating patients with tendonitis using laser therapy which has proven to be a highly effective treatment for this condition. Most Evolution of Balance clients who have undergone or are currently undergoing this treatment have experienced full resolution or great improvement with a series of treatments.

The laser works by sending light-energy into the damaged tendon cells which activates their inter-cellular activity and thus their healing capacity. Laser therapy helps increase circulation and brings oxygen to the target area providing efficient and painless repairing of the tendon.
